Mom Holds A Job Event To Teach Her Kids About Money
A mom in Georgia came up with an awesome way to teach her kids about working, and about money. Instead of arbitrarily giving her kids an allowance, this single mom from created a hiring event complete with job applications and interviews. Brilliant!
Shaketha Marion McGregor came up with the hiring event idea after going on a shopping trip with her three kids. She gave each child a few bucks to spend on whatever they wanted. She noticed that the children began checking prices, and were cautious with the money they were given.
McGregor said she saw that her children were trying to manage the money they were given, so she thought teaching them about money management and budgeting time would be beneficial.
The hiring event McGregor created for her kids included a job application. She posted three jobs that were available: kitchen manager, lead housekeeper, and laundry supervisor. The children filled out the applications, and were then interviewed for the available jobs.
What a great idea! This is an awesome way to get children ready for the real world. Others thought the same as McGregor’s post on Facebook about her idea was shared over 99,000 times. Numerous media outlets have reported on McGregor’s idea. You can check out her Facebook page here, and read more about her idea here.
