Fun Christmas Festivities In Gaston County
Gaston County has been my home for most of my life. I was born in Gastonia, I grew up there, and I still live in the area. The county has grown so much since I was a kid, and there are so many more cool Christmas events to check out now than when I was a kid. I thought I’d share a few.
McAdenville, otherwise known as “Christmas Town USA”, is a huge holiday attraction in Gaston County! This year is the 64th year the lights have been up, and the crowds get bigger every year. If you’ve never been, it’s definitely worth checking out. Without question, it’s the biggest Christmas attraction in Gaston County.
The Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden just South of Belmont is awesome during the holidays! I went last year and the lights were gorgeous! This year they’ve changed things up. You can stroll through the shimmering Mile of a Million Lights, shop for gifts, and roast marshmallows. Here’s an insider tip: go early and have dinner at Twin Tops Fish Camp before walking around the lights. A Gaston County favorite!
Now I’ve never done this, but I want to! You can go Winter Tubing at Crowder’s Ridge. It’s a fast & dry custom-created tubing chute with 250-foot lanes that replicate a snow tubing experience, but no freezing your behind off! This looks fun for kids and adults, and I love that you can tube at night. Cool! Between runs, you can hang out at Crowders Ridge and play basketball, gaga ball, ping pong & carpetball.
You can find out about more events in Gaston County, and get all the details on the ones I mentioned here. Merry Christmas! Enjoy!
