Why Did Disney Wait Until After Christmas To Release A ‘Baby Yoda’ Toy?
If Time had waited a little longer to choose their 2019 Person of the Year, it might have been Baby Yoda. He’s a worldwide phenomenon. That made me wonder why Disney didn’t sell any Baby Yoda dolls or figurines for Christmas.
Disney’s online store has just unveiled the first toy version of the wildly popular character from Star Wars: The Mandalorian. However, you can only pre-order it now. The plush doll won’t be delivered until sometime after March 1st.
There’s actually a good reason why Disney chose not to sell any Baby Yoda toys for the holiday season. CNBC reports that Disney didn’t want to risk any spoilers. But how much could the company have made in sales before Christmas? $1 million? $100 million???
The 11-inch Baby Yoda plush doll, officially known as “The Child,” retails for $24.99. Pre-orders are limited to just one per customer. Will you still be excited about it around St. Patrick’s Day?
When Werner Herzog said, "I would like to see the baby," we felt that. So here's a brand-new Child plush for you to cuddle. https://t.co/kojuYDB5VU #TheMandalorian pic.twitter.com/8Mv2xAg8jA
