Foo Fighter’s Song Holds New Meaning During Pandemic
On January 14, 2003 Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters released “Times Like These”. This hooky, edgy alt rock song did well on the charts and furthered their career. They say the best compliment a song or artist can receive is when another artist wants to cover their original song. The Foo’s received two such compliments in the 8 years that followed the song’s release. The legendary Glen Campbell covered it in 2008 and three years later, Rock band Shinedown covered it as well. No greater compliment was given than recently when BBC ONE arranged for global artists of all genres to band together from different destinations to be a part of the LIVE LOUNGE ALL-STARS and perform the pandemic take on the song. I watched it. I cried. I watched it again and cried some more. “It’s Times Like These, you learn to live again”. We should all take these words to heart. When this is all over, will we have a new respect for what’s really important in our lives? I hope so. Enjoy and please share.
