Bill Murray And Rashida Jones Play Father And Daughter In “On The Rocks”
The last time Sofia Coppola directed a movie starring Bill Murray, it was in 2003’s award-winning “Lost in Translation.” That has piqued my interest in seeing their new collaboration. It doesn’t hurt that “On The Rocks” also stars the extremely talented Rashida Jones (The Office, Parks and Recreation, Angie Tribeca).
IMDb has “On The Rocks” listed as Adventure/Comedy/Drama. A little bit of everything. Rashida Jones plays Laura, a married mom who fears the worst when her husband, Dean (Marlon Wayans), starts putting in longer hours on the job with a new co-worker. She turns to the one person she thinks may have some insight: her rakish father Felix (Bill Murray). He convinces Laura that they should investigate what Dean might be up to. That’s when the father-daughter duo hit the streets of New York City.
It’s a compelling premise with a strong cast. Variety reports that “On The Rocks” will be released in October by A24 and Apple TV after premiering at the 58th New York Film Festival, which runs from September 17th to October 11th.
