TRAILER: Long-Awaited John Belushi Documentary Premieres In November
The first trailer for Belushi, Showtime’s highly-anticipated documentary about the late actor, comedian and singer John Belushi, has been released. Rolling Stone reports that the project was authorized four years ago with the cooperation of Belushi’s widow. Judy Belushi Pisano provided personal photos that had never been seen by the public.
John Belushi rose to fame in the 1970s as an original cast member of Saturday Night Live. He then made the leap onto the big screen, starring in the milestone comedies Animal House and The Blues Brothers. Sadly, his success was cut short.
The beloved actor struggled with drug addiction, ultimately succumbing to a lethal combination of cocaine and heroin. Belushi’s body was found at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles on March 5, 1982. He was only 33.
In the film’s trailer, previously unreleased footage gives us a glimpse into John Belushi’s childhood and start of his career. The documentary includes interviews with Dan Aykroyd, Jim Belushi, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Carrie Fisher, Penny Marshall, Lorne Michaels and others. Belushi debuts Sunday, November 22 on Showtime.
