WATCH: Canadian Girl Runs And Jumps Like A Horse
A teenager from Edmonton, Alberta is being featured in Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for her unusual skill. She can run and jump like a horse. No, really.
CBC News reports 17-year-old Ava Vogel started emulating the movements of horses about six years ago. She began by practicing jumping over obstacles on two feet. Three years ago, she turned her attention to “show jumping” on all fours.
Vogel says she studied videos of horses and adapted their movement to her own body. “It took a lot of training and repetition to be able to build up the proper muscles and a lot of stretching so my wrists were strong enough to handle the impact,” she says.
The teen trotter adds, “For me, it’s just a form of exercise; it’s a great upper-body workout and I’ve made so many friends all across the world over the internet. It’s a whole little community of us out there.” That’s right. There are others.
It seems like Cirque du Soleil would be recruiting these “horse girls” for a new show. Or maybe Ava has her sights set on the Olympics. At the very least, this should become the next big fitness craze. Here are some of Vogel’s viral jumping videos, including a tutorial on how to do it:
