Streaming “Nuggets” For a Rainy Weekend
This weekend, the Carolina’s are forecast to receive the remnants of Delta, a tropical storm turned hurricane turned tropical storm again. It’s been a tough season for the people that live along the Gulf Coast who’ve dealt with one storm after another.
There’s a good chance you’ll be spending quite a bit of time indoors this weekend so I thought I’d share some recent “nuggets” from my streaming over the past week.
The Haunting of Bly Manor- This new Netflix original series had me hooked within the first 5 minutes. It opens at a wedding rehearsal where people are sharing ghost stories. When one woman volunteers to tell one…her story becomes THE STORY. Creepy and very entertaining especially as we near Halloween.
Huluween is the umbrella that HULU gives to the entire month of October and with Hulu’s new look (they recently gave their app a facelift) it’s easy to browse all levels of scary from Scooby Doo Mysteries to Blumhouse Horror. It’s all there.
Truth or Dare- This time with a “deadly twist” as only Jason Blum can give you. The game is the killer in this high octane horror movie from 2018.
Monsterland- By the title you sense that you’ll see terrifying monsters who roam the land. What you get are episodic tales of the “monsters” that live inside us and the choices we make. Let’s just say I was “uncomfortable” watching. These individual episodes are also interconnected.
Amazon Prime Video “The Vast of Night”- It’s 1959 an the 60’s are also here. New Mexico and a small town are about to be visited by extra terrestrials but a switchboard operator teams with a nighttime radio DJ who discovers strange sounds embedded in his broadcast. The spookiest thing about this is that some of the shots feature one camera at a low angle that moves and follows the characters as they seek to discover the truth.
Some spooky fare to help you get through a rainy weekend!
