The Many Times Alex Trebek Was Spoofed On ‘SCTV’
Long before Will Ferrell portrayed Alex Trebek on Saturday Night Live’s “Celebrity Jeopardy!,” the late game show host was being spoofed on another sketch comedy show. Eugene Levy, of Schitt’s Creek fame, played the part of ‘Alex Trebel’ on Canada’s SCTV, which aired from 1976 to 1984.
Alex Trebek said in an interview that he thought Eugene Levy’s impression of him was actually better than Will Ferrell’s. Of course, that could have just been Alex siding with his fellow Canadian.

Levy’s ‘Alex Trebel’ hosted a number of game shows on SCTV, including “High-Q,” “Night School High-Q,” and “Half Wits.” As you’re watching the clips below, look for some of the other young stars who made their names on SCTV. Catherine O’Hara, John Candy, Martin Short, and Rick Moranis all appeared as contestants.
