‘Home Alone’ House Recreated In Gingerbread Form
Disney+ is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Home Alone with sugar. Lots and lots of sugar. Just in time for Christmas, the iconic house from the 1990 holiday comedy starring Macauley Culkin has been recreated in edible gingerbread, according to the New York Post.
Award-winning artist and cake designer Michelle Wibowo was commissioned by Disney+ to replicate the McCallister family’s home. And she did it right down to the very last detail. Wibowo says she “jumped at the chance” because Home Alone is her favorite Christmas movie.
The gingerbread version of the Winnetka, Illinois house stands at just over five-and-a-half feet in length and includes 63 trees, 33 windows, 14 pizza boxes and six lampposts. Construction took nearly 300 hours to complete but, as you’ll see in the video below, it was worth it.
