We Now Know ‘What The 77’ Is All About
One day, the number 77 just started showing up around Charlotte. The number 77 was painted on a couple of buildings. There was a chrome 77 monolith. It had its own Twitter and Instagram accounts, plus a billboard advertising a website. Then the speculation began.
What did the 77 mean? Did it have anything to do with I-77? Was it related in any way to sports, like Charlotte’s new professional soccer team? A new high-rise in uptown Charlotte? Was the diet beverage Alba ’77 making a comeback? That was my guess and I wasn’t as far off as Mel thought.
On Thursday (2/25) at 4:00 PM, the true meaning of the 77 was revealed. It is a low-calorie beverage! More specifically, the whole thing has been part of a marketing campaign for BUBS – The 77 Calorie Hard Seltzer from Sycamore Brewing.
The campaign includes a contest in which BUBS drinkers can enter to win an Asheville glamping getaway. Details are on the official website. Sycamore Brewing also hinted at a 77-yard Hard Seltzer Dash coming this spring. See below:
