Lowe’s Is Looking For High School Graduates Who Want Skilled Trade Careers
College isn’t for everyone, but many high school graduates wonder how they can get trained for a lucrative and satisfying career without a four-year degree. As it turns out, there’s a big push to get young people into skilled trades such as carpentry, plumbing, welding, HVAC and electrical work.
WCNC-TV reports that there will be an estimated 3 million skilled trades job openings by 2028. That’s why Mooresville-based Lowe’s Home Improvement is looking to hire Charlotte-area high school graduates to help fill that workforce gap. Through their national Generation T movement, Lowe’s wants to help rebuild the skilled trades industry and add 100,000 tradespeople to the workforce over the next decade.
Lowe’s is looking to hire more than 50,000 store associates this year alone, and the company offers career advancements at all levels. The Track to the Trades program, which was launched in 2018, assists more than 1,000 Lowe’s associates every year in finding career alternatives with company-paid support, including tuition assistance.
