If You’re Flying For The Fourth, Get To The Airport Way Early
If you plan on flying somewhere this holiday weekend, you’re gonna need to get to Charlotte Douglas Airport hours before your flight.
Travelers expected to fly out of Charlotte Douglas Airport for the holiday weekend should pack their patience. The airport is expecting approximately 28,000 people at the airport today, Friday, and on Monday. The airport is only used to seeing roughly 10,000 people a day.
As we climb out of the pandemic, people are anxious to get back to traveling, causing the airport to see an overabundance of people. Airport officials say if you’re flying, you should get to the airport at least three hours before your flight.
The delays are due to a shortage of workers, from TSA agents to those working in restaurants and businesses inside the airport. Airport officials say peak times for security are between 5:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. and between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the afternoon.
Usually, if you arrive at the airport an hour to two hours prior to your flight, you’re good. But recently many travelers have missed flights due to the long lines. Have a blast on your vacation but remember to keep your cool!
