Norman Lear’s Classic Sitcoms Go To Amazon Prime Video And IMDb TV
The man who created some of the greatest sitcoms in television history turns 99 on July 27th. As an early birthday present, Amazon has added Norman Lear’s groundbreaking shows, including Good Times, One Day at a Time, and The Jeffersons, to their streaming library.
Deadline reports that Amazon made a deal to have all of Lear’s classic TV shows available on its platforms. Some will appear via Amazon’s subscription service, Prime Video, and others will be on ad-supported IMDb TV.
You can now see Diff’rent Strokes and 227 on Prime Video. Likewise, All in the Family, Good Times, Maude, and One Day at a Time have already launched on IMDb TV. This marks the first time that episodes of Maude (two seasons at a time) and all seasons of All in the Family have been made available to stream. The Jeffersons, Sanford & Son, and Sanford are coming to Prime Video later in the year.
Not only have Norman Lear’s sitcoms remained so memorable for their humor and thought-provoking social commentary, they also had outstanding theme songs. Here are a few of the them:
