Reality TV In Space! (It Was Only A Matter Of Time)
With the advent of space tourism, we all knew it was only a matter of time before someone decided to do a reality TV show up there. I didn’t think it would happen this quickly, though. And it’s not just one reality show.
According to CNN, two reality TV shows that will give contestants a chance to head into space are already in the works, and NASA seems to be okay with the idea. One show, called “Space Hero,” has secured a seat into space for its winner with Axiom Space in 2023. The other one is literally called “Who Wants To Be An Astronaut.” That show give its winner an all-expenses-paid trip to live on the International Space Station (top) for eight days.
“Space Hero” plans to start with 24 contestants from around the world, including twelve from underdeveloped countries. “Who Wants To Be An Astronaut” is based in the U.S. and supported by Discovery. Anyone interested in trying out for a free trip to space can apply for “Who Wants To Be An Astronaut” now on their website. Applications for “Space Hero” won’t open until December 21st.
