World’s Largest Convenience Store Is Being Built In Tennessee
Have ever been to a Buc-ee’s gas station? I stopped at one in Leeds, Alabama over the summer. Gas station is actually an understatement. It’s a gas station and it’s a convenience store and it’s ginormous! In fact, a new Buc-ee’s Family Travel Center along I-40 in eastern Tennessee, about 3.5 hours from Charlotte, will be the largest convenience store in the world.
According to WKRN-TV, Kituwah, LLC and Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will break ground on the 74,000-square-foot Buc-ee’s at Exit 407 in Sevierville, east of Knoxville, on Friday, September 24th. The new 200-acre location will feature a whopping 120 fueling positions, EV Charging stations, and a car wash that’s over 250 feet long. It has been nicknamed the “Gateway to Adventure.” At some point, it may even include a golf attraction, a go-kart facility, and a distillery.
The Buc-ee’s in New Braunfels, Texas is currently the world’s largest convenience store. Buc-ee’s is based in Texas and has 38 locations there. The company is expanding throughout the Southeast with stores in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. They’re currently building travel centers in Kentucky and Tennessee. Buc-ee’s first South Carolina location is also under construction and is expected to open in 2022. It’s just off I-95 in Florence.
