5 Ways To Donate Your Old Halloween Costumes
Just like bridesmaid dresses and youth sports uniforms, Halloween costumes aren’t something people wear over and over again. In fact, Halloween costumes usually get worn only once and then they go into a box. Once your kids outgrow them, that’s pretty much it.
If you have a Halloween costume (or seven) that you aren’t going to reuse, there are multiple ways to donate them, according to Popsugar. Instead of tossing them in the trash, consider sending those costumes to one of these organizations so that others can use and enjoy them:
- ‘Ween Dream – It’s a nonprofit based in the New Orleans area whose mission is to provide Halloween costumes to children all across the U.S.
- Halloween Helpers – This Pennsylvania nonprofit was started in 2008 by an 11-year-old child who wanted to ensure that all kids in the U.S. and beyond could get Halloween costumes each year.
- Ronald McDonald House Charities – They collect Halloween costumes and monetary donations for new costumes through its Dress Up the House program.
- Children’s Hospitals – If you’d prefer to donate your Halloween costumes locally, try reaching out to the Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital or Levine Children’s Hospital.
- Thrift Shops – Another way to keep it local is to take those old costumes places like Goodwill or The Salvation Army.
