Three North Carolina Cities Make the Cheapest Cities to Live List
Having three cities on the list is pretty good. Real estate data website PropertyShark recently ranked three North Carolina cities among the cheapest in the United States to live in with good weather.
What are the reasons for these results? In order to come up with a list of the 15 cheapest cities with the best weather, Property Shark looked at the cost of housing and calculated the climate quality of US cities with over 150,000 residents. Furthermore, homeowners were only included on the list if they spent less than 30% of their income on housing. For the statistics, PropertyShark also considered the number of clear days, rainy days, windy days, and days with extreme weather, which means temperatures above 90 degrees or below 32 degrees.
The list was topped by Charlotte, our very own crown jewel. Because of its moderate cost of living, high-paying jobs, affordable housing, and mild weather throughout the year, Charlotte ranked first. Raleigh’s affordability index is 21% because its median income is $67.266 and its median home sale price is $230,250.
This landed it a second place on the entire list. Only 46 days had to do with extreme weather in Charlotte compared to most other cities. This is because 63 days were colder than freezing, and only 46 days had to do with extreme heat. North Carolina’s city of Greensboro placed fifth and was third on the list.
