Anti-Theft Fog Machine Could Keep ‘Grinches’ Away
‘Tis the season for joy and giving and holiday cheer. Unfortunately, it’s also the season for very grinch-like behavior with a rise in thefts. It’s not just porch pirates we have to watch out for. As stores increase their inventory and take in more money during the holiday shopping season, they can expect to see robbery attempts go up, too.
A Missouri-based company may have the solution to stopping the grinches. Density USA is the exclusive U.S. distributor for an anti-theft fogging device. The $7,000 system is designed to deter thieves by literally emitting a cloud of fog, making it impossible for them to see.
Density USA’s founder, Scott Bader, told KMOV-TV the product has been in use internationally for the past 10 years. The system is activated, either manually or automatically, when a potential thief enters the premises. It takes about 45 minutes for the fog, made of water and glycol, to dissipate. The fog is safe for humans and pets, as well as any store inventory, including electronics. There’s nothing to clean up afterward.
The company will install its first anti-theft fogging machines next week. With a 97% success rate, this device might even be able to keep the Grinch from stealing Christmas this year. You can see how it works in this video:
