Community Link Will Have “Taxathon Day “On March 18
In Charlotte, North Carolina we have a nonprofit that helps people secure, safe, and sustainable affordable housing! Yes, please look up and follow Community Link as they’re gearing up to provide free tax preparation. Community Link will also host a “Taxathon Day” on Saturday, March 18 from 10 am to 3 pm at the Community Link offices, and no registration is needed. This is the 18th year that Community Link has participated in VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Rest assured, you’ll have trained volunteers preparing your tax returns. The volunteers are certified by the IRS to ensure quality and accuracy in a filing.
This free tax service is catered to individuals and families in Charlotte with a household income under $60,000. Get your paperwork together because this great nonprofit will be providing this tax service until Monday, April 17th. Very convenient location at 601 E 5th Street, Suite 500, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hours for the walk-in service are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm. No advance registration is needed, but it is first come first served. You might be pleasantly surprised because volunteer tax preparers often find tax credits. This includes earned income tax credits, for taxpayers who previously were unaware of these benefits. In the fiscal year 2022, Community Link prepared about 1,000 tax returns, resulting in $1,464,335 in refunds. To have their returns prepared, taxpayers need to bring:
– A photo ID
– Social Security card for each taxpayer and dependent
– Last year’s tax return
– Bring a voided blank check. Or online banking information for direct deposit of any tax refund.
