Charlotte Woman’s Trip To Grocery Store Her Best Ever After Winning The Lottery
Every once in a while, I’ll play the lottery, but I’ve never hit it big. A local woman scored way more than that on a recent trip to a South Charlotte Harris Teeter.
According to The Charlotte Observer, Faith Granwehr went to the Harris Teeter on South Blvd. and purchased a $30 scratch-off lottery ticket. It was a ticket for the $5,000,000 Ultimate game. And that’s exactly what she won! Granwehr spent $30 on the ticket and won $5 million dollars. Can you imagine?! The NC Education Lottery sent out a news release Monday with the news.
The odds of winning the tickets big prize, according to the lottery website, is 1 in 3.3 million. Wow! There are remaining tickets and the winners of those have a 1 in 1.1 million odds of winning the $100,000 prize.
Granwehr took the lump sum option of $3 million instead of receiving payments of $250,000 over 20 years. After state and federal taxes, she ended up taking $2.1 million. Man, they truly screw ya on the taxes. That said, a trip to the grocery store for $2.1 million ain’t a bad day.
I think I’m playing the lottery wrong because I’ll usually play online. When you play online you accrue points, and I don’t spend any more money until they run out. A guy won a big in the lottery after watching an episode of ‘Lottery Changed My Life’. In the episode, the person spent $25 each week for three months, and ended up winning $100,000. I tried spending $25 a month for three months and got nothing.
Many people use fortune cookie numbers to win, kids or grandkids birthdates or ages, and addresses. I’m not sure if any of these ways have been proven, but I know that all of the aforementioned ways have worked for people.
I’ve used fortune cookie numbers, my dogs birthdays, and favorite numbers and I haven’t really scored. Maybe I need to try the scratch off tickets. Years ago, a friend of mine gave me a bunch of scratch-off tickets for my birthday, and I won $42. That’s been my biggest score! LOL!
Congrats to Faith Granwehr! I have a feeling she’ll be visiting the Harris Teeter on South Blvd. a lot in the future.
