Hulu’s New Cooking Show ‘Secret Chef’ Is Putting Contestant’s Tastebuds To Work
I’m a big fan of cooking shows and Hulu is coming out with a new one this summer called ‘Secret Chef’ and it looks interesting. The show, according to Deadline, is being produced by chef David Chang. Ten contestants are isolated in a secret underground kitchen labyrinth that are connected by a series of conveyor belts.
The 10 contestants on the show are a mix of professional chefs, home cooks, and social media influencers. There are no judges on the show. The chefs will perform a series of cooking challenges and will then rate each other’s final dishes in a blind taste test. Everyone’s identities are hidden, so the only thing that matters is the food. No one knows who cooked what dish.
Contestants on the show are being guided by a ‘mischievous animated talking chef hat’ that gives the cooks their challenges. Although the hat is cute, the voice is a bit annoying to me. The show will have 10 episodes and will begin on Hulu June 29.
I like the concept of the show as the food is the star. And there’s bound to be some straightforward honesty since the chef’s don’t know who has made what dish. That means opinions are going to be blunt and probably rude at times. With the food being judged by other cooks, tastebuds are going to play a major role in this show. And since everyone has different palates, the judging of the dishes will solely rely on an individual’s preferences.
After watching the trailer for the show, it’s like a combination of ‘Top Chef’ and ‘Chopped’ with secrets. I’m sure that once I watch the first episode of ‘Secret Chef’, I’ll be hooked. See the trailer below and see what you think. Summer food fun! I’m so in!
