Cybersecurity Expert: Never Click On These 4 Words — Or Else!
Doing anything online these days feels like a full-time cybersecurity job or, at the very least, a strenuous workout. And between home and work, most of us spend a lot of our time online. So we all have to be hyper-vigilant all the time. That’s why it’s important to understand how the bad actors on the world wide web are thinking.
A cybersecurity expert from McAfee, the antivirus company, is sharing some ways to protect your computer or smartphone from malicious spyware. The unnamed employee told The Sun that in addition to never downloading files from sources you don’t trust, pop-ups are also dangerous as they can give hackers access to your personal financial information. There are four words in particular that you should never click on those pesky pop-ups.
The McAfee expert says, “Never click ‘Agree,’ ‘OK,’ ‘No,’ or ‘Yes’ in a pop-up, as these actions can trigger an automatic spyware download.” According to this expert, the best way to avoid this is by closing out of a browser entirely by clicking “Force Quit” on a Mac or clicking “End Task” on a PC’s task manager. Also, be sure to also regularly update the operating system on your devices.
