Over the month of October, you’ll see billboards and commercials about The Break the Silence – Abuse Affects Us All campaign you’ll see billboards, commercials, and shows about it. Stop The Cycle NC Pledge is funded to help reduce physical and mental abuse. Data from 2019 to 2021, there were more than 138,300 reports of assaults committed by former intimate partners or family members.
The Break the Silence – Abuse Affects Us All campaign has been made possible by a $500,000 grant from the Governor’s Crime Commission to support survivors of domestic violence. This information is according to the Criminal Justice Analysis Center, North Carolina’s Statistical Analysis Center. Within the first six months of this year, 39 domestic violence homicides have been reported, according to the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence Fatality Report.
Legal Aid of North Carolina has been helping victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or financial exploitation for decades. In October Legal Aid of North Carolina will be unveiling a powerful documentary showcasing stories of domestic violence survivors in North Carolina. The powerful video will be available on the Stop the Cycle website in October. They are the only legal organization in North Carolina that provides these services for free throughout the entire state.
