Doritos Nacho Cheese Booze Is Coming And I Don’t Know Why
I recognize that culinary mashups are a thing and that businesses like to create odd and out of the ordinary products. Phil and I embrace many of the odd food combos when we try stuff for our ‘Nosh or Nasty’ videos. We’ve eaten some odd and gross things. Drinking gross stuff has also happened. I’m thinking of the Hormel Chili Beer we tried. UGH! Now the folks who own the Doritos brand, PepsiCo and a spirit’s maker are taking things too damn far.
According to TODAY, PepsiCo and custom spirits maker Empirical are teaming up for a new booze that tastes like Doritos. Yup. Why? I have NO idea. I cannot imagine that either company is receiving lots of emails asking them to create a cheesy booze. Just the thought makes me wanna hurl!
The limited-edition bottle of Empirical x Doritos Nacho Cheese Spirit will be hitting stores in select markets next month. The 84-proof liquor smells and tastes like nacho cheese. The booze is clear, and the company is offering numerous cocktail recipes that you can make with it.
TODAY says that the press release about the new product says the taste ‘opens with umami and tangy aromas of nacho cheese, moving to the deeper, corn-forward flavors of the chip to finish on a soft salty note.’ In addition, they say the liquor can be enjoyed neat or over ice. Cause the flavor of Doritos over ice is something I’ve been dreaming of!
Rolling out in select New York and California markets next month, a bottle of the Empirical x Doritos Nacho Cheese Spirit will cost $65 a bottle. Pre-orders online are beginning today. If you’re a brave soul, or know someone who really LOVES Doritos, you can find out more here. I’ll be honest: I’m out on this!
