‘Buddy The Elf’ Keeps Popping Up Around Charlotte
What do you do during the holidays season when everyone thinks you look like Will Ferrell? Just put on the green-and-yellow “Buddy the Elf” costume and go with it. That’s exactly what Brent Thomas has been doing on and off since 2020. And he did it again this week with the help of his family.
According to WBTV, the dad/Will Ferrell doppelganger from Matthews was spotted at Carolina Place Mall in Pineville, where he re-enacted some of the most memorable scenes from the iconic 2003 Christmas comedy, Elf. The revolving door, “fruit spray,” escalator, “ginormous” bathroom stall, and Santa sighting all made it into the latest of Brent’s TikTok videos, which you can see below.

With this year being the 20th anniversary of Elf, there have been multiple screenings of the movie in the Charlotte area. Another one is happening on Friday, December 22nd at NoDa Brewing’s North End Tap Room (150 W. 32nd Street). The cinematic spreading of Christmas cheer begins at 6:30 pm. It will be chilly so bring a blanket along with your chairs. You can even enjoy s’mores and hot cocoa around the fire pits. And if you want to dress like “Buddy the Elf,” too, I’m sure everyone would be cool with that. Find more info HERE.
