North Carolina Bigfoot Festival On The Way In May

Whether you’re a believer in Bigfoot or not, you’ll still enjoy the WNC Bigfoot Festival coming in May. It’s been happening for years, and Phil and I have often talked about going! For some reason, either Phil or I always have other things planned.
The 2024 Bigfoot Festival will be held Saturday, May 18 in downtown Marion, North Carolina. It’s a free event and it runs from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. I love the festival’s tagline: Come a skeptic. Leave a believer.
There’s something for everyone at this event, even if you aren’t into Bigfoot. There’s food inspired by the hairy big guy, art inspired by Sasquatch and created by regional artists, and tons of photo opportunities of folks dressed up and showing their love for Bigfoot. My favorite event is the ‘Bigfoot Calling Contest’. I have no idea what it involves or what is said, but it seems like a good time!

Bigfoot Festival Is Family Friendly
Everyone is welcome at this fun festival and there will be activities for the kids. In addition to all the Bigfoot excitement, this year paranormal speakers are a part of the festival. Live entertainment is also happening, and you can check out The Blue Shades Band from Columbia, South Carolina, who are back by popular demand.
Looking on the festival’s Facebook page, I am loving the tee-shirts! If you go, a tee-shirt is a must!
For those hitting town early and spending the night in or around Marion, the festivities will start on Friday, May 17. The 1st Annual Bigfoot Jam will take place in downtown. Everything kicks off around 6:30 P.M. with numerous bands playing.
The People Watching Will Rock
I’m not a big nature person, so I’ve never experienced a Bigfoot sighting. But those who have are all about the big hairy guy! Checking out some pictures from prior festivals, it looks like some folks dress up for the event. Some are dressed in homemade Bigfoot costumes and others are decorated in hand made Bigfoot inspired outfits.
The people watching at this event will be stellar! Honestly, forget about Bigfoot, I’d go just to walk around and check out all the outfits and people. If you’re interested in checking out the WNC Bigfoot Festival, grab more info here. And take lots of pictures if you go!
South Carolina Named One Of The 9 Best States For Music Festivals
Summer is festival season. And let’s face it, when it comes to music festivals you either love or hate them. When you think of music festivals your first thought probably goes to Coachella. Other big ones include Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, or if you’re a country fan Tortuga or Stagecoach. I’ve been to a couple of country festivals including one in South Carolina, so seeing SC on the best states for music festivals made sense to me. Music Festivals can mean long days in the heat, lots of money spent on food and drink, and perhaps the investment of hotel rooms. If you love music and being in an exciting atmosphere they can be well worth the money though.
Perhaps the best place for a festival to you is one nearby? Or maybe you’re looking to plan a trip to one of the festivals named above. Bonnaroo was on my bucketlist for a while, but now the idea of sleeping outside and not showering for days just isn’t that appealing. I’d still love to attend Tortuga right on the Florida beach. And rumors are swirling that my favorite artist Taylor Swift could be playing Coachella next year. So California may be in my future. So whether proximity, the vacation appeal, or the artists are what is drawing you to a festival. But what are the best places to attend a music festival?
Our friends over at AirportParkingReservations.com created the Ultimate Festival Guide and shared that guide with us. And as a part of that, they ranked the best (and worst) states to attend a festival. And South Carolina, well its one of the best states for music festivals. That’s something to be proud of right? It’s close to home. Plus festivals are great for the economy. Keep reading to see where they fell on this list.
