Evite Nightmare Leads To Warning From Mortified Mom
This is a social nightmare that could only happen in this age of complete connectivity. A mom recently used… well, tried to use Evite to send out party invitations for her daughter’s first birthday and it did not go as she had planned. Unfortunately, she was not as careful as she should have been about who she invited.
Emily King, who goes by @twodachshundkings on TikTok, was excited to plan her child’s first birthday party and used Evite to share the details with friends and family. However, when using the import feature, she accidentally imported all 487 of her phone contacts…and invited them. Family, friends, co-workers, and people who are basically strangers. Okay, that’s not so bad. Emily could have just sent out a follow-up explaining what happened, right? Wait, there’s more.
King says, “Not only did it invite my boss, all of my coworkers (and) all of the people that have ever been stored in my phone but it sent invitations based (on) how they are stored in my phone.” She warns, “I want you to just take a second and think about everyone stored in your phone and how they’re stored in your phone. And then imagine someone receiving an invitation … ‘Derek Eye Roll.’ He received an invitation (and) ‘Jess Hit Her Car In Parking Lot.’” Check out the mortified mom’s reaction:

After saying that she either has to quit her job or get a new identity, Emily King went on to explain how this happened and the aftermath of her blunder in the follow-up post below. As far as we know, Emily didn’t actually change her name or move out of the country. In fact, Evite sent Emily and her husband a $250 DoorDash gift card to help pay for the suddenly bigger party.
The Aftermath
@twodachshundkings Replying to @samantha i hope this clears things up 🫣 shoutout to @Evite for the giftcard and to everyone who made me feel like i wasnt crazy for wanting to leave town😅

So it wasn’t the end of the world. Still, it’s not something any of us would ever want to experience. That sort of thing just leads to next-level anxiety. But to sum up, if you’re going to use Evite for your next party, make sure you’re careful about importing your contacts. Or maybe change the way you’ve named people in your contacts list. Just saying…
