Dale Earnhardt Jr. Trades Racing For Renovating
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is becoming a one-man media empire. Since retiring as a NASCAR driver last year, he has moved seamlessly into the broadcast booth. Dale also has an autobiography, Racing to the Finish: My Story, hitting bookstores on October 16th. And he’s even teamed up with his wife for a new home renovation show.
“Renovation Realities: Dale Jr. & Amy” is set to premiere on Saturday, June 2nd at 9:00 PM on the DIY Network. According to the cable network, The four-part series focuses on “what happens when the world of professional auto racing and home renovation intersect.” In other words, does Junior know his way around a band saw as well as he did a stock car?
Dale wasn’t always interested in home improvement. That began while he was building his home north of Charlotte and he met his interior designer, Amy Reimann, who would become his wife on New Year’s Eve 2016. Pretty women have a way of helping men discover new talents. And TV networks have a way of recognizing good opportunities.
The project that the couple tackles on “Renovation Realities” is a 150-year-old house in the Old Town section of Key West, FL. The DIY Network describes the home as “classic but dilapidated.” It’ll be fun to see how Dale and Amy overcome numerous obstacles, including a visit from Hurricane Irma, along the way to transforming the historic home into a modern seaside getaway.
