A restaurant in San Francisco called Creator is cooking in a very hands-off way. They're using artificial intelligence to prepare what they hope are perfect hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Basically, it's an automated burger assembly line.

I appreciate the fact that Creator uses "only the freshest ingredients," and that their burgers are completely customizable from patty to pickles. I also understand that automation is the future for a lot of businesses, including restaurants, and it won't necessarily lead to widespread unemployment. But do we really need hi-tech hamburgers?

Let's look at the pros and cons. On the one hand, using the robot burger flipper might ensure a consistently good product. Also, the machine won't ask for a raise or vacation days. But it could still call in sick. Computers get viruses, just like people. What if it falls victim to hackers? You could order a cheeseburger with chili and slaw, but wind up with a kale salad! This restaurant should probably keep at least one human on the payroll.
