New Study: Exercise At The Same Time Every Day For Best Results
Fitness experts are full of opinions when it comes to the best time of day to do your workout. Some say first thing in the morning is best. Others will tell you that you’re better off waiting until the afternoon or evening. But according to a new study, it might not matter when you exercise, as long as your workout always takes place at the same time.
Fox News reports that researchers from Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School studied the fitness habits of 375 people who exercise on a regular basis. The findings show that those who always work out at the same time of day spend more time doing so each week than those who do it at random times. Based on that, the researchers conclude that “exercising at the same time of day, regardless of whether it is during the morning, afternoon, or evening, may help with achieving higher levels” of physical activity.
So it seems that sticking to a consistent schedule is the key to getting more exercise and, therefore, better results, such as weight loss or muscle tone. However, it’s interesting to note that nearly half (47.8%) of the people in the study who work out at the same time of day get their exercise early in the morning. That makes sense since morning is when you’re likely to have more energy, as opposed to the end of a long workday.
My alarm clock rings at 3:55 AM, so an early morning workout is off the table. Well, unless I decide to start running to the radio station every day.
