Belmont Has A New Brewery On The River
Not to be outdone by Mecklenburg County’s lust for beer making, Gaston County welcomed Belmont Brewing Company last weekend. According to the Charlotte Business Journal, the new nano-brewery is now open in the Belmont building which was previously occupied by York Chester Brewing and Riverman Brewing.
Owner and head brewer Bethea Baker has some creative recipes on tap. For instance, his Chocolate Cake Imperial Stout is brewed with real chocolate cake in the mash. Belmont Brewing’s Hot Southern Blonde Ale features pineapple, peach, and strawberry flavors. Other offerings include the Lemoncello, a pilsner-style beer made with lemon-drop hops, and the Not Sorry Peanut Butter Porter, the name of which hints at a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.
Belmont Brewing Company has plans for live music and food trucks as the weather warms up. The brewery’s spot on the Catawba River makes it ideal for a fun weekend hang. They’re open Wednesday through Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 9:00 p.m. at 1500 River Drive in Belmont.
