Bananas And Peanut Butter May Be The Key To A Better Night’s Sleep
You know what they say: an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Well, I’m not taking any chances. I have an apple, an orange, and a banana a day. I really don’t like going to the doctor.
I usually eat my bananas in the morning but I may have to switch things up after reading this. In her YouTube series, “You Versus Food,” dietitian Tracy Lockwood Beckerman says having a healthy snack of banana and peanut butter before bed can aid in your quality of sleep and digestion.
Bananas are high in potassium and magnesium which help your muscles relax. As for the peanut butter (and other nut butters), they contain tryptophan, a precursor to melatonin, which is known to aid sleep. On top of that, the carbs in the banana actually make the tryptophan more available to your brain.
