Did This Subway Dancer Just Defy Gravity?
A TikTok video of a person pulling off an astounding move on a subway has gone viral because it appears that they’re doing something impossible. Defying the law of gravity. Or are they?
Watch as the masked dancer walks onto the subway to the beat of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” and then seemingly floats up the pole. Smooth, indeed. But then watch again and pay attention to the people outside of the subway car.

Did you catch it? The people on the station platform are walking backwards. The whole video is playing in reverse, which means the dancer began at the top of the pole, slid down, and walked off the subway backwards. Still, it’s impressive that they timed it perfectly with the opening of the doors.
