Why Paul McCartney Still Doesn’t Need Glasses At 78
There’s hot yoga, laughter yoga, and even goat yoga. Have you ever heard of “eye yoga?” It may be the reason why, at the age of 78, Paul McCartney still doesn’t need to wear glasses.
Speaking on an episode of the podcast Table Manners with Jessie Ware, Sir Paul explained how “eye yoga” has kept his eyesight healthy. McCartney said that, back in the ’60s, a yogi in India explained to him that eyes are muscles and can be exercised as such. So that’s exactly what he has been doing.
The Beatle explained how it works: “So, head still, and then you look up as far as you can – one, two, three – go back to the middle, then down – one, two, three – then back to the middle. You do three lots of that, then go to the left and the right. Now you’ve got a cross, up and down and sideways; now you do the diagonals.”
“I don’t know if it means that that’s why I don’t need glasses when I’m reading a newspaper,” McCartney admitted. But he added, “It makes sense, you know? It’s a good idea.”
I’ve worn glasses for over 25 years. Most of the time they don’t bother me, but there have been occasions when I wished I didn’t have to rely on them. If you need me, I’ll be staring at my yoga mat.
