Dunkin’ Is Getting Into The Spikeball Game
Have you played it on the beach or in your backyard yet? Spikeball has swept the nation. My oldest son started playing it at college earlier this year. Spikeball became so popular on campus that it’s now an official club sport at UNC. In fact, so many schools have Spikeball squads that they’re starting to travel for competitions. Go Tar Heels! Could the Olympics be next?
For the uninitiated, Spikeball is sort of like volleyball but the ball is much smaller and the net is circular and parallel to the ground, similar to a mini trampoline. Also, as in volleyball, you want your opponents to miss the ball or hit it out of bounds, but bouncing the ball off of the net is actually a good thing. I’ve played it a few times but I shouldn’t be competing against college kids. There’s some diving involved.
There are many different Spikeball sets on the market of varying quality. Popsugar reports that Dunkin’ is getting in the game with its own limited edition Spikeball Pro Kit. Priced at $125, it comes with a Dunkin’-branded net, two Spikeball “pro” balls, a portable ball pump and gauge, a pro carrying bag, and a free registration to Spikeball Roundnet’s Association tournament.
The first batch of Dunkin’ Spikeball Pro Kits sold out in less than 24 hours but more are expected to arrive in October. You can pre-order yours HERE. You can see the Dunkin’ kit in action below:
