Guy Fieri Creates ‘The Ultimate American Hot Dog’
The hot dog is a classic American food! If you go to a cookout, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to score one. And at every baseball stadium in our country, hot dogs are on the menu. Apple pie is also a classic American food. But how would you like the two together?
Chevrolet has teamed up with celebrity chef Guy Fieri to create what they call the ultimate hot dog – an ‘Apple Pie Hot Dog’. It’s basically exactly what you’re imagining: apple pie and a hot dog all rolled into one. It’s a hot dog, tucked inside an apple pie crust.
Fieri says the new creation is “different than pork chops and applesauce” and that the flaky pie crust “with a little sugar, a little salt offers that juxtaposition.” Then there’s the “funky mustard with a little sweet mustardy” flavor and “bacon jam for some crunch and a really deep, rich flavor.”
Why would anyone do this? I like both foods but the combo sounds gross! Of course, I’ve been surprised before with odd food combos!
The hot dog will be served at the MLB Field of Dreams Game in Dyersville, Iowa this Thursday. It’s the first time that an MLB game will have been played there and it will be broadcast by FOX starting at 7pm ET. If you tune in, you may be able to check out the all American combo. Phil and I may need to try and re-create this to do a taste test.
