To paraphrase P.D. Eastman, there’s going to be a dog wedding. A big dog wedding. Big dogs, little dogs, boy dogs, girls dogs, all at a dog wedding. What a dog wedding!

Seriously, there's going to be mass dog wedding near Chicago on Saturday, September 25th. According to UPI, organizers with the Villa Park Community Focus on Unifying Neighbors Commission are hoping to bring in over 178 canine couples for the ceremony. Why 178? Because that's the current world record set by Littleton, Colorado in 2007.

Commission chairperson Leslie Allison-Seei participated in another world record attempt in 2008. That year, only 87 doggie duos tied the know in Oak Park, Illinois, far short of the record. Leslie wants to see Villa Park put Illinois over the top at Lions Park this Saturday.

There will be an officiant at the ceremony and if someone brings a single dog, there will also be speed dating set up to pair the right pups. I'm guessing that at least one lawyer has already drawn up a pre-puptual agreement.
