Man Seen Riding E-Scooter Over 50 MPH On Highway
We’ve mentioned the perils of driving to and from our office in South End due to the volume of electric scooters. People who ride them tend go fast and loose. I recently saw a teenager on an e-scooter hit a curb and fly into a bush. He’s lucky the bush was there because it looked like a broken coccyx waiting to happen.
As fast as the scooters are in Charlotte, they don’t come close to the one that was spotted in New York City recently. A video posted to Twitter has racked up tens of thousands of views. It shows an unidentified man driving an e-scooter with traffic on a highway. You can hear the person taking the video say that the man on the scooter was going over 50 miles per hour!
According to the New York Post, a law passed in August of last year made it legal to ride electric scooters on the road in New York. However, the man in the video is still breaking the law because e-scooters are limited to 30 miles per hour. At least he was wearing a helmet.
