Salt & Straw Ice Cream Has Thanksgiving Flavors
As soon as I saw these on FoodBeast last week, I knew that Phil and I would have to try them. About two months ago, we tried Mac & Cheese flavored ice cream, and it was nasty! Definitely not something I’d want to taste again. However, these new Thanksgiving flavored ice creams sound tasty.
Salt & Straw, the world’s largest small batch ice cream company, is bringing Thanksgiving dinner to fans in ice cream form thanks to their new “Friendsgiving Series.” The Friendsgiving Series gives you some of the most common Thanksgiving flavors in ice cream forms.
There are five flavors and they can only be purchased together. Much like the Van Leeuwen Kraft Macaroni & Cheese ice cream, the pints are a bit pricey. $65 for all five. If Phil and I are going to try these for a “Nasty or Nosh” video, it’s gonna cost us! LOL! That said, I think we have to do it.
The two flavors that stand out as odd in the series are the Parker House Rolls w/Salted Buttercream flavor and the Caramelized Turkey and Cranberry flavor. I’ve never tried a roll flavored ice cream or a turkey flavored ice cream. They sound very interesting. The other three flavors are desert flavored ice creams, and by the description, they sound yummy.
These are the five flavors in the series:
- Parker House Rolls w/ Salted Buttercream: These buttery rolls are glazed with fresh-churned buttercream and topped with flaky sea salt. As the spongy rolls soak it in, it’s gently churned into salted sweet cream.
- Caramelized Turkey & Cranberry Sauce: Roasted turkey bacon from Diestel Farms is tucked into a savory, buttery brittle with thyme and freshly ground cubeb pepper. It’s joined by a housemade cranberry sauce.
- Candied Walnut Cheesecake: This is layers of rich cheesecake, that have warm notes of caramel and molasses. A graham cracker crumble with walnut butter from Spread the Love plays on those caramelized notes.
- Sweet Potato Pie w/ Double Baked Almond Streusel: Roasted sweet potatoes are added in golden brown bits of almond croissant streusel that are twice-baked.
- Pumpkin & Gingersnap Pie (v): Ultra-creamy coconut, sugared crust, then molasses-spiked gingersnap.
Hopefully we will have a video for you before Thanksgiving. The Caramelized Turkey & Cranberry Sauce taste test must be filmed!
