Dachshund Gives Birth To Extra-Large Litter
‘Tis the season for Hickory Farms samplers. You know, those boxes filled with summer sausages and cheese logs. That’s exactly what I thought of when I saw the photos of this extra-large litter of wiener dogs from the UK.
According to the Daily Mail, a two-year-old dachshund named Cheesecake surprised her owner, Stacey Whiteley, by giving birth to almost double the average amount of puppies. Normally, a dachshund might have six pups in her litter. Whiteley expected eight after seeing the veterinarian’s scan, but a couple more were hiding in there, making it a grand total of ten baby dachshunds.
Ready for more cuteness? Since their mama’s name is Cheesecake, all ten puppies were named after types of cheese. The five boys were called Edam, Manchego, Cheddar, Blue, and Wensleydale. The girls were named Philly, Brie, Feta, Pepper, and Babybel. And the whole “sampler” found loving forever homes. You can see more photos HERE.
