World’s Largest Cast Iron Skillet Hauled To Its New Home
Some drivers in Tennessee were treated to an unusual sight on Wednesday (1/12). The world’s largest cast iron skillet was taking a little trip on the back of a flatbed truck. There’s video below.
The super-sized skillet measures over 18 feet from handle to handle and weighs a whopping 14,360 pounds. You could fry a lot of chicken in that thing. According to WZTV, the colossal cookware was on its way to South Pittsburgh, Tennessee, where it will call the future Lodge Cast Iron Museum home. Lodge has been making cast iron skillets, Dutch ovens, grill pans and more at its family-owned foundries in South Pittsburg since 1896.

The museum is currently under construction and will offer an immersive experience that explores the history and culture of cast iron cooking. Visitors can then shop from the largest selection of cast iron cookware at the Lodge Cast Iron Factory Store. The museum is set to open in late summer 2022. You can learn more about it HERE.
My wife and I have a couple of Lodge cast iron skillets and we use them all the time. They’re incredibly versatile. And if you treat your cast iron cookware right, it will last a lifetime. By the way, there’s also a Lodge Cast Iron Factory Store at 8656 Concord Mills Boulevard.
