North Carolina Grocery Chain Named Best In America

What is your favorite supermarket? Do you shop in multiple stores or just one? I'm a Lidl, Aldi, Trader Joe's kind of guy, but I recently wandered into an Ingles store and was very impressed. The extra-wide aisles are what got me. It felt like I was buying breakfast cereal on the Champs-Élysées. If I lived closer to an Ingles, I'd be there once a week.

We all have our go-to grocery store, but a new survey has revealed what could be the best in America. According to a USA Today Readers' Choice poll, The Fresh Market, based in Greensboro, North Carolina, is the top supermarket chain in the country.

USA Today describes the Fresh Market as "inspired by the food markets of Europe–a place where shoppers could have a more intimate and personalized experience than the warehouse-style supermarkets of the time." The Fresh Market has 159 locations in 22 states, including a few in the Charlotte area.
