Another hot and steamy Carolina summer is coming. However, we could be a lot more comfortable this year thanks to a cool (literally) new device.

According to Oddity Central, a gadget called the Metaura Pro claims to be the world’s first wearable air-conditioning unit. It fits like a collar around your neck, blows cold air while holding a charge for eight hours, and delivers air that’s “seven-degrees colder than the ambient air” in fan mode and “18-degrees colder” in cooling mode.

With three weeks to go in its Kickstarter campaign, the Metaura Pro could be a hit. Initially seeking $5,000, the Metaura Pro has now raised over $106,000. Could you see yourself walking around with this thing around your neck? If it got hot enough, I’d have to give it a try.
