Amazon Drops First Teaser For ‘A League Of Their Own’ Series
We’re getting our first look at Abbi Jacobson’s (top) A League of Their Own series on Amazon Prime Video. Both the series and the original 1992 film take place in 1943, when the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League was established. In the first teaser, we see some on-the-field action as well as glimpses of the players’ personal lives. According to Consequence of TV, the series “takes a deeper look at race and sexuality.”
The reboot of A League of Their Own features a new ensemble of characters played by a cast that includes Jacobson (Broad City), Chanté Adams, D’Arcy Carden, Melanie Field, and Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation). Offerman plays the team’s manager, washed-up MLB pitcher Casey “Dove” Porter. Think Tom Hanks as Jimmy Dugan in the movie.
Rosie O’Donnell, who played one of the Rockford Peaches in the 1992 movie, will guest star in the first season. All eight of the hour-long episodes of season one are scheduled to hit Amazon Prime Video on August 12th. Nice use of Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen” in the teaser.
