Never Underestimate “The Old Man” :FX Series
I have always been a fan of Jeff Bridges. I mean, he’s “The DUDE”! Now on FX and FX on Hulu his new series is top notch and very much worth your time if you enjoy CIA Spy Thrillers.
Bridges plays Dan Chase, a former CIA spook that was heavily involved in Afghanistan, at least I think that’s where it is. They never really confirm but that’s the impression given. Chase is in deep with a man that the CIA considers an enemy, but Chase considers he’s the lesser of the threats and wants to help him. This 30+ years ago scene is shown in flashbacks as Chase and his handler meet secretly in the desert. Present day his old handler Harold Harper (John Lithgow) is the Assistant Director of The FBI and Chase has been missing for 30 years living in a small town. Amy Brenneman plays Zoe, who Chase puts in danger just by being near her. The title is a bit misleading as Jeff Bridges has a gray beard and hair but seems in his 60’s based on the timeline but when his location is discovered and former enemies track him down…Never underestimate “The Old Man”. 4 episodes are posted with a new episode each week. “The Old Man” is based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Perry and the action is not always predictable. Great to see Jeff Bridges back in great form after his cancer treatment. “The Old Man” is full of surprises A+
