Toys R Us Making A Comeback Just In Time For The Holidays
Remember the feeling you got when you saw a Toys R Us Christmas Catalog? It would come in the mail and if you’re like me, you’d browse through it once, and then look it over again, marking all the stuff you wanted. Looking at all those toys on the glossy pages of the catalog was awesome! I miss those days! If you’re a fan of Toys R Us, the popular toy store will be back for the holidays. Macy’s just announced that the brand will be in all of their locations in time for Christmas shopping.
Toys R Us closed all its stores in 2017 and filed for bankruptcy. It’s tried to comeback a few times since then, but it hasn’t worked out. According to NBC, Macy’s will have the brand in all its stores by the fall, and they’ll vary in size. Some stores will have small Toys R Us, about one-thousand square feet while others will having larger areas, close to ten-thousand square feet. All the Toys R Us will be up and running by October 15, 2022.
Between October 15, and October 23, all Macy’s stores will have nine days of in-store events at the Toys R Us locations, including family friendly activities and daily giveaways. No word on if Geoffery the Giraffe will be back, but we can hope!
Even though the temperature outside is crazy hot, Christmas isn’t too far off! This Monday, July 25, we will play all your holiday favorites for one day for ‘Christmas in July’. It’s crazy the number of messages we’ve received from people asking about the event. So many folks are ready for their Christmas songs! Although I’m not quite ready for that, I am ready for Fall and cooler temps. I love me some sweater weather!
.@ToysRUs at Macy’s is more than just online! Get ready because by this holiday season, Toys”R”Us will be at every Macy’s in America! Every. Single. One.

List of 30 Toys That Defined the '80s
A couple of the toys that defined the time have crazy stories about them. Take, for example, shopping for a Cabbage Patch Kids doll around Christmas in 1983, which meant parents were putting their safety at risk with the many riots that ensued, which went to inspire an HBO documentary. When it came to Teddy Ruxpin, by the time the toy company Worlds of Wonder realized what it had with its new talking bear, demand had skyrocketed to the point the company was leasing jets to fill them with the plush toys and flying them stateside.
Some ’80s toys started as American Greetings card series, including the Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake, while its competitor Hallmark kept pace with Rainbow Bright. Safety wasn’t necessarily paramount in the ’80s, as a number of these toys resulted in trips to the hospital, but not a decline in popularity.
