‘Only Murders In The Building’ Creators Found Humor In Murder Mystery
Every Tuesday night at my house, the wife and I get our dinner and get in front of the TV and when ready we open HULU and catch the latest episode of Season 2 of our favorite show. John Hoffman, co-creator along with Steve Martin from Only Murders in the Building, recently revealed how he and Steve Martin found humor in ‘murder mystery’.
Hoffman said about Steve Martin, “He starts showing me various things he could do and play with, and I’m like, ‘What more could you ask for?'” Hoffman continued about the two of them coming up with this creative direction for the series, “He told me recently, just dancing around the room, he would never have expected such a delightful thing.” Martin added, ‘My career hasn’t had the mix of a warm, critical reception with a popular reception like this all at once. My movies get appreciated 20 years later.’ I hadn’t thought of that … I find it incredibly moving that he dove in with everybody in that spirit to lead the way.”
The audience agrees they’ve hit a homerun as this is the most watched HULU original ever, and critics have lauded them with 17 Emmy nominations.
