80’s Themed Videos With Gerbils Going Viral
As a kid of the 80’s, there are tons of things I miss about those years. If you grew up in the 80’s, you get it. A couple in Oregon is also missing the 80’s but they’ve found a way to relive that time. Well, kind of.
Kyle and Marylou Bryant are reliving the 1980’s and sharing it with others by making wholesome, cute videos with their gerbils. According to Fox News, the couple wants to produce more positive content on the internet. And since we now have the FDA warning people about the NyQuil Chicken challenge on TikTok, I’m all about these fun videos.
The Bryant’s created a TikTok show about a gerbil named Bella, who loves all things 80’s. The character of Bella is played by the couple’s two pet gerbils, Ginger and Charlotte. They’re like the Olsen twins of animals! Each gerbil ‘acts’ about 5 to 10 minutes in between takes. As far as their ‘acting’ goes, they just do their own thing on the set.
And if you’re wondering about the set, Kyle constructed an elaborate, historically-accurate mini-set for the TikTok videos. It took him around 80 hours to build the Blockbuster store for the first video. Building Bella’s house took around 40 hours, while Marylou spent 15 hours writing scripts. Not sure why the script took so long to write but maybe gerbil videos are more complex than I thought.
The couple has done an amazing job, especially with the set. These are great videos for kids and a cool way for them to learn about the 80’s. They’re silly and cute and they’re definitely a welcome change from some of the insane ‘trends’ on the app. Check out the first video below. And you can follow Bella on TikTok here.
