One of the most polarizing Halloween treats, if you can even call it a treat, is candy corn. No one ever says, “I could take it or leave it.” You either love candy corn or you despise candy corn. But did you know that there are also strong opinions on how to eat candy corn?
According to a survey from the National Confectioners Association, 33% of people say the correct way to consume candy corn is to nibble the narrow white end first. Another 16% start with the wider yellow end. Finally, 51% eat the whole piece in one bite. That seems to make the most sense, given the small size of a candy corn kernel.
Personally, I think the correct way to eat candy corn is to open the bag and pour the contents directly into the trash. Not a fan. However, I have a friend who swears that mixing candy corn with peanuts is actually really good. If you’re the same side of the divide as I am, you may want to try that to see if it sways your opinion. Here’s a little history behind candy corn:
Experts Say These Are The Best Candies For Halloween
I’ll admit it. Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. I’m more of a Thanksgiving and Christmas kind of guy. But I’m also not stupid. I know that handing out crap to trick-or-treaters is asking for trouble. I don’t want to wash broken eggs off my front door on November 1st. That’s why I’m very intentional in my candy purchasing.
According to the National Confectioners Association, 97% of Americans plan to hand out chocolate or candy to trick-or-treaters on Halloween this year. So what is it that kids really want? Study Finds went to the “experts” to find out, collecting data from ten websites on which candies are the most highly rated. It really all comes down to five.
